Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital, is considered to be a yet undiscovered gem of Europe. It is often compared to Prague due to its beautiful architecture, which is a legacy of various historical periods. The buildings are beautifully decorated with different colors and ornaments. There are fountains and statues galore, as well as numerous shops, cafes and restaurants for you to freely explore throughout the safe pedestrian zone around the Ljubljanica River, which runs right through the middle of the city. Another pleasant way to spend a few hours is by visiting the lively outdoor marketplace and enjoying talented street musicians on one of Ljubljanica’s many squares. A mighty medieval castle watchfully rests on a hill above the capital, clearly visible from any point in the city.
