Craft beers became a big thing in Croatia in the past few years, especially in its capital – Zagreb. A couple of bar owners in Opatovina street, a small in the very city center, came up with the idea to offer only craft beers to their customers.
That’s when Opatovina became colloquialy known as “The Craft Beer Street“. Bars like Ro&Do, Craft Room or Tolkien’s House offer some amazing Croatian, but also international craft beers from all around the world.
Owned by Dominik, a well known personality on the Zagreb’s beer scene, Ro&Do is a true local place, with lots of regular customers that come for some great beers, whiskeys or rakija shots and are welcomed with a big smile of the owner himself night in and night out. This is a place where you’ll enjoy rock classics but don’t be surprised if all of a sudden the music changes to some electronic beats – this place is unpredictable!
If you are a beer lover this is certainly the place to check out. Over 200 beers from all around the world but also lots of unique Croatian craft beers. Pleasant atmosphere, welcoming staff and great rock music. If you can’t decide which beer to try feel free to ask the staff – they will help you pick the perfect one every single time. The kitchen opens at 5pm so you can enjoy some great burgers, sandwiches, chips etc.3. Tolkien’s House
At the top of Opatovina Street there is another great beer place. It’s decorated as the magical world of J.R.R. Tolkien. This unique bar not only serves different beers from around the world but also offers beer presentations and tastings that are held here frequently. Their motto sums it up in the best way: „Drink like dwarves, smoke like wizards, sing like elves and party like hobbits!“
There are about 100 beer festivals held in Opatovina street every year. If you are a beer lover and coming to Zagreb, don’t miss this place. You’ll surely love it!
